But it is crucial to keep an eye on the oil level. if it rises, fuel is getting into the sump and the engine oil needs to be changed promptly.
To achieve this cleaning affect, it is advised to drive your vehicle at 50mph+ for a period of at least 10-15 miles, such as on the motorway. This will get your exhaust and DPF up to full temperature and allow for the regeneration to take place. The process should help prevent issues occurring as regularly, though this solution may be less
The DPF Problem. To make diesel vehicles more emissions friendly, the exhaust is fitted with a DPF – Diesel Particulate Filter which Wiki says is “a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine .”. At 60k it had a new Turbo and at 64k it had a full carbon clean at the main dealers So far I've done about 600 miles in it, a mix of motorway (a couple of long trips, 120 miles each way) and town driving.
We trusted a Mazda dealer with our 2008 Mazda 6 diesel and was ripped off completely. I suspected the DPF problem and trusted them to perform a proper diagnosis. After they charged us $1000 replacing injectors the car had sent into exact same limp mode 5 mins after leaving the dealer.
