Thats the issue, the caps get blocked creating a vacuum in the tank which collapses internally damaging sensors in it etc and maybe causing the pipe to break as mine

I have a 2012 Fiat 500 pop cylinder 3 was misfiring sparks and coils have been changed and it was still misfiring. Added motor flush in it and the misfiring stopped will the next day when I went to add fuel in the car the misfiring started back when the fuel was added.
